Mizzou Engineering’s Kannan earns major award from UM System

Recently, the UM System announced the winners of its 2019 President’s Awards, which are given by President Mun Choi in recognition of faculty who have done exceptional work to advance the mission of the System. Mizzou Associate Professor of Biomedical, Biological & Chemical Engineering Raghuraman Kannan was one of 12 awardees, earning the President’s Award for Economic Development.

Pfeiffer lauded as Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year

The University of Missouri has long been a champion of interdisciplinary collaboration, taking schools of thought from disparate academic fields and combining them in unexpected ways. Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year recipient Ferris Pfeiffer embraces this philosophy every semester. Pfeiffer, an assistant professor in Biomedical, Biological and Chemical Engineering, teamed up a few years back with Suzanne Burgoyne, an MU Curators’ Professor in Theatre, to incorporate actor-training methods and inspire creativity in engineering students.

Research success garners Mizzou’s McFarland lofty NSF award

The National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award is a stamp of approval for a nascent faculty researcher. It tells everyone that one of the nation’s leading authorities on science believes in their research and believes it will provide world-class breakthroughs for years to come.

Four faculty receive named professorships

Last spring, faculty representatives from the College of Engineering developed a Faculty Honors Program to adhere to the campus guidelines for awarding faculty fellowships and honors. To select this year’s honorees, Dean Elizabeth Loboa sought recommendations from the College’s Dean’s Council for Teaching Excellence and Dean’s Council for Research Excellence.
