DEPC Recognized by National Academy of Inventors

The College of Engineering established the Diverse Engineering Professionals Conference (DEPC) in 2017 to recognize diversity organizations and diverse students while promoting the college’s core college values of integrity, excellence and collaboration. Several student organizations, under the leadership of Assistant Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Strategic Initiatives Tojan Rahhal, launched the first conference in 2017 in collaboration with the Engineering Leadership, Engagement and Career Development Academy and the Office of Diversity and Outreach initiatives.

Research has Implications for Aging, Arthritis and Osteoporosis

Similar to muscles, bones add mass when they are mechanically loaded via physical activity but will lose mass if immobilized or when a person spends time at low or zero gravity, such as an astronaut. New research from Mizzou Engineers finds that similar processes occur with cartilage.

New Student BBQ helps engineers find community

Peace Park was filled with the smell of hamburgers and the chatter of excited freshmen as they got to know their new family at the College of Engineering. The New Student BBQ on Thursday evening was, according to Dean Elizabeth Loboa, the largest she had ever seen. She hoped the barbecue gave new students the opportunity to get to know the College more and build lasting connections.
