Ninth edition of Merit Badge Day largest ever
MU’s ninth-annual Merit Badge Day broke records as the largest in its history. Hosted by the College of Engineering, almost 800 scouts from six states came ready to learn and take on challenges.
Building bridges in Botswana
Benjamin Steger and his fellow cadets in the U.S. Army ROTC Cadet Coalition Warfighter Program had been allowed passage into a federally protected tribal territory in Botswana to spend the night under the stars. That night, the tribe, with over 200 children eager to play with the cadets, decided to keep Steger and his companions engaged. Together, they played Frisbee, soccer, sang and showed each other dances, from traditional tribal dances to The Floss — a popular dance move in the U.S.
MU’s Harmon seeks to pay research experience forward through new org
The ability to do engineering-related research in high school helped start Josh Harmon down the path toward becoming an engineer. Now a freshman at Mizzou Engineering, he’s working to pay it forward through a new student organization.

More than 200 companies spoke at length with more than 1,000 students at the 2019 Mizzou Engineering Career Fair on Tuesday. Some were new to this particular event, some longtime participants — and all received a deluge of students eager to show off their skills and resumes in search of a job, co-op or internship.
