Cyber Tigers Club has Successful First Semester
Mizzou students this semester had more opportunities to explore networking, programming and cybersecurity-related infrastructure thanks to a new club at Mizzou Engineering. Club President Timothy Kerr strived to make the Cyber Tigers a laid-back group where students learn from one another.
Mizzou Engineering Student Takes First Place in IEEE Computational Challenge
Wenlong “Waylon” Wu won top prize in the Technical Challenge on Energy Prediction with Smart Data sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computational Intelligence Society. He was the only student to be in the finals of the competition, held during the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society’s 2020 Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence earlier this week.
Electrical Engineering Student Earns Prestigious DEPS Scholarship
Evan Schulte A Mizzou Engineering student has received a prestigious scholarship from the Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS). Evan Schulte is earning a master’s in electrical engineering. He works on directed energy with his advisor, Professor Randy Curry, in the Center for Physical and Power Electronics.

EECS Student Wins People’s Choice Award at 3MT® Competition
A Mizzou Engineer took home the People’s Choice award at this year’s 3MT® competition sponsored by the University of Missouri Graduate School. Anup Mishra, a PhD candidate in electrical engineering and computer science, presented a three-minute thesis on creating personalized alerts to reduce alarm fatigue using machine learning techniques in health care settings.
Kauffman Scholar Success at Mizzou
Justina Wilkins believed attending college was essential, even in 6th grade when selected as a Kauffman Scholar. She knew her hard work would pay off once she went to college. Wilkins, an industrial and manufacturing systems engineering (IMSE) student, credits the Kauffman Scholars Foundation for her academic success prior to and during her college career at Mizzou.
