IMSE Hall of Fame Inducts New Members

Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) held its annual IMSE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony virtually on Friday, Oct. 23. Five new inductees were enshrined into its hall of fame, which was established in 2008.

A team of engineers at the University of Missouri conducted open road testing of three collision avoidance systems and demonstrated that a drivers’ visual behavior in response to an alert generated from a collision avoidance system can be divided into one of four different behavioral categories: active gaze, self-conscious gaze, attentive gaze and ignored gaze.

As the University of Missouri campuses began preparations to move to remote teaching and telework in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Professor Jim Noble in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) was preparing for the Center for Excellence in Logistics and Distribution (CELDi) spring meeting and research symposium. Noble is the MU site director of CELDi, a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center.

Student Volunteers Lend a Hand

More than 20 Mizzou Engineering students sacrificed a portion of their time away from school during the winter break to help others. Students participated in a week-long Mizzou Alternative Breaks (MAB) service trip in early January, prior to the start of the spring semester. Since 1991, Mizzou Alternative Breaks has been sending groups of students on trips around the country to volunteer at various places in need.

Mizzou alumnus honors family with $1.7 million in recent gifts

Today University of Missouri officials announced two gifts from an alumnus and his wife to honor his family’s legacy and long-time support of Missouri’s flagship university. Ken Donohew, a 1967 industrial engineering graduate, and his wife, Ellen Kippel, recently gave $1.7 million, bringing his lifetime giving to more than $3 million.
