Mizzou Engineering came together virtually to celebrate and recognize Fall 2020 graduates on Friday, Dec. 18, as part of Mizzou’s campuswide festivities. There were 253 graduates – 214 receiving their bachelor’s degree, while 39 received advanced degrees – from the College of Engineering. A total of 1,934 students graduated from the university this term. Interim Dean Noah Manring praised this class of graduates for meeting and conquering challenges, especially this semester. He encouraged students to think of these challenges as opportunities. “The past 10 months have been extra challenging for all of our graduates, but these challenges should be viewed as opportunities for you to show your adaptability and perseverance in completing your degree program in this ever-changing environment,” Manring said. “You have leadership traits like resilience that many employers want for their organizations.” Several graduates provided their thoughts about their just-ended Mizzou experiences:

Biomedical Engineering Hometown: St. Charles, Missouri What are your post-graduation plans? After graduation, I will be working at Readout Health in St. Louis as a quality and manufacturing improvement engineer. How did Mizzou Engineering prepare you for your career? Mizzou Engineering prepared me for my career by offering professional development classes and coursework that reflects the skills we would need in industry. By offering a career fair every semester, I was able to gain relevant work experience through internships.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Hometown: Villa Ridge, Missouri What are your post-graduation plans? After graduation, I will be working at Garmin as a design engineer. In this role, I will be working with printed circuit boards and product hardware. Do you have a favorite Mizzou memory? I don’t know if I have a specific memory that is my favorite, but my favorite part of my time at Mizzou is the people and friends I met in the College of Engineering. They are all so friendly and work together to make sure that everyone gets want they want out of their time at Mizzou.

Mechanical Engineering with a math minor Hometown: Springfield, Missouri What are your post-graduation plans? I will be headed to Kansas City to work for Barry-Wehmiller Design Group as a project engineer. Do you have a favorite Mizzou memory? I would have to say Engineers’ Week is my favorite memory from every year. Being able to come together to celebrate the hard work we put into our studies is so awesome. I love the tradition and would encourage everyone to participate!!

Civil Engineering Hometown: Lee’s Summit, Missouri What are your post-graduation plans? I’m moving back to Kansas City to start a job in Overland Park, Kansas for HNTB Corporation. I will be practicing civil engineering in the field of municipal transportation. How did Mizzou Engineering prepare you for your career? Mizzou Engineering prepared me very well for my career by not only teaching me applicable material but also by providing resources for outside help regarding internships, technical skills, engineering organizations, etc.
