The University of Missouri College of Engineering recognized more than 500 graduate and undergraduate students for their academic success at the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.
“As you settled in as a Mizzou Engineering student, the College – through its faculty and staff – took on a role similar to that of a family. Like a family, we helped you develop the tools you needed to succeed, then stood back and watched you flourish,” MU Engineering Dean Elizabeth Loboa said.
“We prepared you for today and for the future, training you to creatively anticipate global changes to come.”
A total of 443 undergraduates and 66 graduate students were honored at the event. These remarkable students represent the latest in a long tradition of future engineering leaders to call Mizzou Engineering their alma mater.
Included among these graduates were the latest recipients of the Dean’s Certificate in Leadership and Engagement. This certificate is bestowed by the MU Engineering Leadership, Engagement and Career Development Academy and recognizes students who value leadership development and have participated in educational sessions and experiential learning to help develop their interpersonal, team building, decision making, communication, emotional intelligence, networking, professional etiquette and ethical behavior skills. The recipients were:

- Heather Graham
- Ashish Kambli — the first graduate student to receive the certificate
- Addison Korsmeyer
- Earle Lariosa
- Matthew Seymour – w/ distinction
- Riley Short – w/ distinction
- Jake Shulman – w/ distinction
- Allison Weyhrich – w/ distinction
Craig Lalumandier (BS EE ’89), Group Vice President of Information Technology for Charter Communications, Inc., and Loboa delivered the keynote addresses. Both spoke about the importance of engineering to the future of the nation and the world.
“The world will call upon you to solve challenges that do not yet exist. It will ask you to imagine, create and utilize new technologies,” Loboa said. “To do so, you will summon your adaptability, ingenuity, intelligence, and perseverance. You will think like the future, to be the future.”
