Two Mizzou Engineering students made history this week when they were awarded prestigious national scholarships from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mark Korol and Dylan Parham each received $7,500 from the department’s Office of Nuclear Energy’s Integrated University Program.

This is the first time Mizzou has had two undergraduate NEUP scholarship recipients in the same year.

Korol is a junior majoring in mechanical engineering in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. Parham is a senior studying chemical engineering in Biomedical, Biological and Chemical Engineering.

The NEUP program focuses on attracting the “best and the brightest to nuclear energy professions,” Dr. Rita Baranwal, assistant aecretary for nuclear energy, said in an announcement.

The scholarship funds help cover educational costs for the upcoming year.

Korol and Parham, who were among 42 scholarship recipients nationwide, were featured in a Columbia Missourian article about the awards.
