Benjamin Steger, a senior in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and minoring in both military science and global digital studies, was awarded the Senior Hesburgh Scholarship by the University of Missouri Committee on Undergraduate Education.

The Hesburgh Scholarship is awarded for academic achievement every spring and is presented to only one Mizzou student in each undergraduate class. This award is funded by the TIAA-CREF Hesburgh Endowment Fund through MU’s General Education Program.

“To me, the Hesburgh Scholarship is a recognition of academic achievement from the university’s administration,” Steger said. “This award is quite an honor, and I feel prepared to finish strong in this last upcoming school year knowing others are proud of my work.”

Steger plans to enter the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant once he graduates in May 2021. He hopes to serve in the Corps of Engineers and work in military and combat engineering.
