Tap Day, when small groups of students are selected, or “tapped,” by fellow students to join one of six secret honorary societies, is a Mizzou tradition dating back to the 1910s. These honorary societies recognize new inductees’ commitment, service and leadership to Mizzou.

Faculty and staff who have significantly contributed to MU are also tapped by each society.

This year’s Tap Day is different because of the ongoing COVID-19 public health situation. Instead of the traditional ceremony held at The Columns or Jesse Hall, videos that revealed the names of inductees were posted on Mizzou Life’s social media.

The following Engineering students were inducted into these societies.

Mystical Seven
Jesus Vega – Civil Engineering
Charles Burney – Information Technology

Rollins Society
Janae Bradley – Biological Engineering

Omicron Delta Kappa
James Kim, Jr. – Biomedical Engineering
Hayley Ockerhausen – Biomedical Engineering

Mortar Board
Samantha Sample – Computer Science
Rebecca Shyu – Computer Science
