Academic advisors Tami Beatty and Nick Balser recently graduated from the inaugural class of the UM System Advisor Development Program (ADP).

From a congratulatory letter from Jill Wood, Director of the Office of Academic Affairs (UM System) and Kimberly Hoffman, Director of Research Operations and Planning: “(t)he goal of the UM System ADP is to recognize and further develop successful advising and academic coaching professionals who will assist in shaping student success strategies for the universities in the UM System.”

Beatty and Balser were nominated and selected through a competitive process. In addition to expanding and enriching networks at both the personal and institutional levels, ADP participants engage peer networks to identify challenges in advising and student support and use those networks to define excellence in advising and coaching competencies. Finally, participants of ADP collaborated with peers across the UM System to submit proposals to the annual conference of NACADA (National Academic Advising Association), the professional organization that promotes the field of academic advising.
